Something to get off my chest

This has been bothering me for a few days. It probably shouldn't, but well...I guess not everything makes sense.

A request went out a while back to donate money to an artist popular with fandom to help him put out a new album. He quickly received over double what he'd originally asked for...but continued asking for more. Then, as a thank you, he offered to send out tshirts with a custom design to those who'd helped him--but not everyone, only those who contributed over a certain amount, so go ahead and up your donation now!

Seriously? With more than double what he'd asked for he couldn't send out a tshirt to everyone? It's not the lack of a tshirt in my future that actually bothers me so much as the greed that it represents. I find myself in the position of regretting my donation, which doesn't happen often and isn't a feeling I much care for. The whole thing just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Obviously things can change, but I don't believe I'm going to fall for this one again.

I hear what you're saying, but seriously, I didn't see him asking for more money, merely saying thank you for what he was given. The site he used locks in for the length of time specified in the initial ask, so once it's up, he can't take it down until January 9th. I think he was blown away by the level of response he got.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do. I don't think he needed to actually offer t-shirts at all, but he did. I do hope you feel better about it later.

I considered reminding people that there was only three days left to donate a request for more money, as well as the part where he encouraged ppl to up their donations in order to get the extra prize. I dunno, it just bugs me that he would do that after all the generosity he was shown. The worst part is that I really do enjoy his music and I now I'm not sure I want to buy any more.

I'll probably get over it...sometimes I just feel like I need to vent and not many people come here so it's a good place.

See, I didn't take the three days left thing as a request for more, but rather excitement that he'd be able to get recording. I understand your need to vent though. Sometimes it helps to state what bugs.

I hope you feel better about things soon.

I got a super good deal on my flight/hotel this time around, which let me afford tix for Jared and Jensen's private QnAs--I'm super excited :) Plus the guest list is great this time around, can't wait to meet everyone!

I'm so horribly broke this year already that I couldn't afford Jensen's Q&A. I got outbid. Hope you have awesome fun at them though.
